You Can Be An Author!

Click HERE!  Use this fun Internet site to create your own fiction stories.  There are characters, objects, and backgrounds to illustrate fairy tales, alien and monster stories.  You make up the action and control all the characters.  Here's the only problem - you can't save your story.  So it has to be finished in one sitting. Gobble Gobble

Thank you for joining us for Harvest Fest on October 27th. It was such a wonderful time to connect. Word has it that the apple crisp recipe is now desperately sought by each of us!

Attendees showed their appreciation to Taher, Inc. for their years of delicious, dedicated service. A special thank you goes out to Darryl Ortmann and Mark Sutfin, Store Owners of Market Fresh Food Center in Waupun, for the generous donation of twenty-five fresh pumpkins.

Story Jumper

Story Jumper is a neat Internet site that lets you create your own illustrated picture book.  It gives you lots of options for pictures and words.  (Watch a how-to video.) Besides that, it's fun to use!  Give it a try.  I'd like to know what you think about it.

Harvest Fest

Everyone's welcome to join us for the celebration!  The meal starts at 5:30 with fun activities before and after the meal.  Students must be accompanied by an adult.  The normal transportation will be available at 4:45 for those students unable to attend the party.  Posters, rubbings, and pumpkins need to go home that night.

Our enrichment that day will be decorating pumpkins.  Each student will create a design with a black marker.  Here's a link to design ideas.  Here's more.

Field Trip

Next Tuesday, November 1, we'll be going to the Horicon Marsh after snack time.  We won't be having homework time that night.  Meadow View will be joining us for the fun.  Mr. Imhoff will be our nature expert on the trip.  Be sure to dress for hiking outdoors.

We'll be watching a marsh video on Monday during our enrichment time to get some background information.

Rock River Kids Links
Rock River teachers have suggested Internet sites for kids to use to supplement what they're learning in their classrooms.
Students have their own logins for Everyday Math.  Parents may want to use the online Student Reference Book to help with math homework.
Spelling City is a fun site to practice your spelling words and handwriting.  If you're in 3rd grade click on the list for John Sankey.  4th grade click on Fourth Grade.  5th grade click on Gloria Schmidt.  6th grade click on Sadie Schultz.
This is a handy site to printout math practice sheets.  You can also print flashcards or do them online.  It covers addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, time, money, and fractions.  You can work with large numbers or decimals.
FreeRice.Com
You can help real people to get real rice for free by correctly answering questions about any of these subjects.  Each correct answer is worth 10 grains of rice.  It's a fun way to learn something new and you help people at the same time.  It's a win-win situation!
Are you a builder?  Do you like to figure out how things work?  Try this program and see if you can invent a Fantastic Contraption!
You can make your own flipbooks very easily on the computer.   You can make one as a guest without logging in.  Look at some of the examples then try to make your own.  Make something simple like a bouncing ball.  (Click Here to Watch How-To Video)
